Stay healthy while you explore.
Before traveling to South Africa, make sure you’re up to date on the recommended vaccinations.
Visit your local travel clinic or health authority to find out what you might need based on your health, travel plans, and transit countries.
⚠️ Important:
Some countries require a Yellow Fever vaccination even if you’re only transiting through. Double-check your full travel route.
Note: Ready4Life is not authorized to provide vaccination advice. Please consult your national health services for official guidance.
Ready4Life = Adventure + Purpose… and yes, you’ll need a visa!
If you’re planning to do an internship or volunteer work with Ready4Life, you’ll need a visa to enter South Africa. There are different types depending on how long you’re staying.
Most travelers from EU countries, the UK, the US, and several others can enter South Africa on a visitor’s visa — no pre-application needed! It’s simply a stamp in your passport when you arrive.
Since Ready4Life is registered as a charity, participating in volunteer activities without financial or in-kind compensation is allowed under this visa.
You can:
Apply to extend your visitor’s visa for an additional 90 days once, from within South Africa (apply 60 days before it expires), or
Apply in advance for a volunteer visa at a South African embassy or consulate in your home country. Be prepared to visit the embassy for a few times before everything is arranged.
Important: Visa rules can change! Always double-check the latest requirements with your local South African embassy or consulate.
Ready4Life will guide you through the process if you need help extending your stay.
